Boilermakers Local 40 Apprenticeship Training Program
Boilermakers Local 40 apprenticeship training program is a four year training program designed to educate and train people the skills required to become a career field construction boilermaker. Applicants selected to enter the program will be required to complete the following: Random and annual drug screening procedures, 144 hours of classroom and shop training each year, purchase and complete four years of related studies work booklets at home, complete 21 on the job training modules or OJT'S, complete monthly job or out of work reports and mail them to the SAJAC office each month, work a minimum of 6,000 hours ( previous work hours or welding qualification credit hours may be included) for a contractor signatory with the training program.
Applications and Requirements
Applications may be obtained at our Elizabethtown office in person during regular business hours or you may call our office during business hours and request an application by mail if the applicant resides more than fifty miles away for the Elizabethtown office location. Once you have received an application you have 10 days to mail your application to the Southeast Area Joint Apprenticeship Committee (SAJAC) office using the envelope provided by certified mail. All applicants must submit a copy of your High School Diploma or GED Certificate and a copy of your Birth Certificate or proof of age to the SAJAC office. All copied documents must be on 81/2 x 11 paper. Applications received without the required proof of age and education will be disqualified. You may only apply with one local in the SAJAC geographical area, if you apply to more than one, the last one received will be disqualified. Applications will be processed at the end of each calendar quarter. If your application is not received in the Area Apprenticeship office before two weeks of the end of each quarter, your application will then be processed the next quarter.
Random Selection Procedure
Using a random selection procedure applicants will be ranked in five different groups. The final listing is for veterans only and was adopted by the National Building and Construction Trades to help out of work veterans find new careers after their military services has concluded. Details about each grouping are listed below.
Group 1: Will be applicants who have furnished a welding certification from a contractor verifying that he/she is an ASME certified tube or pipe welder. Subject to verification!
Group 2: Will be applicants who have furnished a welding certification from a contractor verifying that he/she is ASME certified on plate welding. Subject to verification!
Group 3: Will be applicants who have furnished a welding completion from a welding/technical school. Training must have been post high school to be considered.
Group 4: Will be applicants who have not furnished any proof of welding experience.
